Lieutenant General Peter Pearson

On leaving the Army General Pearson became Executive Director of British Exploring Society, a youth development charity, until July 2014.Peter Pearson spent almost exactly 35 years in the British Army as a Gurkha officer, retiring in March 2010. His service took him to all parts of the world, including the Far East, the Middle East and Africa. He commanded units all the way up from a platoon of 30 men to a tri-Service command of over 3,500. His operational tours took him to Northern Ireland, as a junior officer and to Bosnia and Kosovo as a brigadier. His senior appointments included Commander British Forces Cyprus, Commandant of The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Deputy Commander of NATO’s southern command. He was the Colonel of the Regiment of The Royal Gurkha Rifles for 10 years and he wrote the third and final volume of the regimental history of the 10^th Princess Mary’s Own Gurkha Rifles.

He became the 145^th Lieutenant of The Tower of London in May 2010 and took over as Governor of the Military Knights of Windsor in September 2012.

He is married to Francesca and they have three grown up children and two Labradors. Their home is in rural Monmouthshire, although half of their lives are spent in Windsor Castle.
