Jackie Harland, MRCSLT, MHPC
Mrs Harland is a superbly qualified and experienced speech language therapist who has established clinics in London, Asia and the Middle East. Until recently she was CEO of the London Children's Practice in the Harley Street enclave carrying out diagnostic and multidisciplinary assessments, medico-legal assessments and expert witness attendance in SENDIST. Trained at St Thomas’ Hospital, London as an Audiology Technician, and at City University, London where she became a Licenciate of the Royal College of Speech Language Therapists. Jackie also has a Diploma in Paget Gorman Signed Speech; is an Elklan Training accredited tutor, and is an expert in Makaton Signing stages 1-6; Visualisation and verbalisation (Lindamood-Bell); Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS); and, SCERTS.
She worked with Lambeth NHS, Bromley NHS and East Sussex NHS before developing Ruth Jacobs and Colleagues, London, into the largest independent therapy practice in the United Kingdom. The practice was renamed The London Children’s Practice in 2007 and provided services to over 40 schools with more than 500 children, including an international clientele, receiving therapy each week. She is a regular speaker on ADHD, ‘Social Communication Disorders’, and ‘Communication Strategies for the Classroom’. For many years she has provided training to barristers at Clifford Chance Lawyers in representing clients and has produced reports for the training of Judges in the role of expert witness in SEN Tribunals. Her international experience is wide-spread with a particular emphasis in Australia, the Middle East and Indian sub-continent. In conjunction with Prof. Lewis, Jackie wrote and has taught a most successful post-graduate training course for teachers and therapists in ‘Childhood Communication Impairments’ primarily for developing countries, that has been accredited by Anglia Ruskin University at Masters level.
