Children tested to destruction
Too many parents are pushing their children too hard to secure good exam results whether it be SATS, GCSE or AS/A levels. There is more to life than grades and such results are a thin measure of real ability. ‘My parents don’t allow me to do anything else apart from revision’ said one miserable boy who rang Childline. He works hard but it is never enough. He tries to reason with them, but it ends up in a row! We tell our kids it’s for their own good – but is that really true?
